Plastic injection mouldings play a significant role in the automotive industry. They are used in various areas to improve both the performance and aesthetics of vehicles. In the case of the exterior, this is mainly due to the advantages that plastics offer, such as lower weight, better corrosion resistance and greater design freedom. Plastics allow manufacturers to realise complex shapes and designs, resulting in more attractive vehicles.

Another important area is the interior of the vehicle. Here, injection moulded parts are used in the form of dashboards, seats, door panels and many other components. Plastics offer a variety of advantages, such as easy cleaning, good resistance to wear and tear and high flexibility in design. In addition, plastics can help reduce the weight of the vehicle, which contributes to improved fuel efficiency.

Plastic parts are also widely used under the bonnet. They are used for various components, such as air filter housings, coolant tanks, oil pans and many other parts. Plastics offer advantages here such as lower thermal conductivity, good resistance to chemicals and high mouldability, which enables manufacturers to realise complex geometries.

In addition to the advantages mentioned, plastics also contribute to sustainability in the automotive industry. By using lighter plastic components, the overall weight of the vehicle can be reduced, resulting in lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. In addition, plastics can be recycled and reused, which reduces the environmental impact.

It is important to note that plastic injection mouldings in the automotive industry also present challenges. For example, they can be susceptible to deformation at high temperatures and must meet certain safety requirements. Selecting the right plastics and optimal design are crucial to overcome these challenges.
